Develop and Manage Programs
SBW is continually developing ideas for innovative energy and water efficiency programs that take advantage of our many years of experience, as well as our familiarity with the needs of client agencies and customers.
Two program approaches we currently offer are:
Commercial Direct-Install Services
SBW is a leader in designing and running turnkey direct-install programs for commercial facilities. We’ve set up successful programs throughout the country that have quickly and effectively put tens of thousands of water- and energy-saving devices in place. These devices include:
- Dishwashing pre-rinse spray valves that wash dishes well with less water.
- Faucet aerators that save water in bathroom sinks.
- Vending Misers, small devices with infrared sensors to optimize electric use for cold beverage vending machines.
- Showerheads that reduce water use while maintaining customer satisfaction.
Our direct-installation approach maximizes program penetration (and savings achieved) by delivering the program directly to utility customers. Participation is easy and free for these customers, and results in immediate cost savings for them. The economies of scale SBW achieves result in low unit costs for sponsoring agencies. Often, these unit costs are less than the cost had customers purchased the devices themselves at a retail outlet.
As part of our turnkey approach, SBW can develop program procedures, recruit and train installers, administer and help publicize the program, sign up customers, perform quality control, and collect data to support savings verification.

Industrial Compressed-Air Optimization
SBW offers turnkey programs to help industrial facilities optimize their compressed air systems. These systems are a “hidden utility” that often run very inefficiently, driving up companies’ operating costs.
We have developed, marketed, and delivered compressed air management programs (CAMP) for a number of utilities and state agencies. These programs have proven very cost-effective and successful. Through our highly trained technical staff, SBW provides compressed air performance testing services, which include on-site audits, short-term metering, and engineering analysis using U.S. DOE's AirMaster+ software. We also present recommendations to plant management, and verify energy savings once work is complete.
