Diagnostic Metering and Analysis

We apply a variety of techniques to diagnose poor performance of facility energy systems.  This often involves the design and implementation of end use and diagnostic metering systems.  Studies range from detailed investigations of individual buildings to standardized sub-metering of large samples.  Specialized end use metering can be a powerful diagnostic tool, although in many cases we can identify problems and corrective measures based on inspection, spot measurements and existing utility metering.  Specific services include:

  • Trend analysis using utility billing records.

  • Estimation of energy and water end use consumption and cost based on a facility survey and utility metering records.

  • Analysis of time-of-day and seasonal operational patterns and identification of potential operational problems using 15-minute demand metering.

  • Specification of appropriate meters, sensors, installation procedures and software for diagnostic metering systems.

  • Installation and testing of metering equipment and software (short-term and permanent).

  •  Analysis of diagnostic metering data to identify operational problems and equipment failures.
